E-Commerce Solution
Overview
We developed a Smart Licensing Web-based Online Application for the Chattogram District Commissioner’s Office to modernize and streamline the licensing process. The platform improves transparency, efficiency, and accessibility for both citizens and government officials. Integrated with Ekpay (a2i) payment gateway, it allows users to pay VAT and income tax in a single transaction while handling various license types and renewals.
Problem and Solutions
Problem: Traditional license application and renewal processes were time-consuming, paper-heavy, and prone to delays. Citizens faced long queues and multiple visits, while government staff spent excessive time on manual verification and record-keeping.
Solution: The new system digitizes the licensing process, enabling online applications, renewals, and payments for multiple license categories such as hotel/restaurant, brick-burn, acid use/transport/sales, and formalin use/transport/sales. This reduces manual workload, improves record accuracy, and shortens processing times.
Development Tools and Technology Stack
We used a robust and secure technology stack to ensure smooth performance, scalability, and data security:
Backend: Node.js for handling application logic and server operations.
Frontend: React.js for an interactive and responsive interface.
Database: MongoDB for storing license records and transaction details.
Payment Integration: Ekpay (a2i) for seamless VAT and tax payment processing.
Additional features include role-based user access, audit logs, and multi-device compatibility.
Results and Impact
The platform saved 100+ man-hours per month by automating workflows and reducing manual intervention. It has processed 500+ licenses since launch, significantly improving service delivery and citizen satisfaction while reducing administrative burden.

The Smart Licensing platform is a major step toward e-governance in Bangladesh, aligning with the nation’s digital transformation goals. By digitizing the licensing process, the Chattogram DC Office has enhanced operational efficiency, ensured transparency, and improved citizen experience.
